Returning to the game.. Need Advice..

Hey everyone,

I use to play DAOC a LOOOOOONGGGGGG time ago, I quit probably about 4 months
after release, I have
decided to come back and have some fun, I left behind a 41st Level Avalonian
Cleric (Enhance/Rejuv)

I purchased the gold edition for the SI expansion and also the Trails of
Atlantis.. I have been in game and my char is
still good to go but there is one problem, I forgot everything.. I mean, I
remember the zones, dungeons etc from when
I left, I remember how the equipment works and all, I'm just out of touch
with all the changes, skills, tools, raids etc..

I use to be in Hand of Retribution but it appears that has disband.. I'm on
the Percival/Albion server.


Anyway, I'm looking for tips, advice, sites, reading material, suggestions..
basically anything to help me
get back into the game..

Hi Jeff, welcome back! =)

I too, took a break from DAoC, not as long as you had, but long enough to
forget how to play. I was amazed at how quickly it all came back tho.

Since you are a healer, you will probably find it easy to get in groups. So
what I would do is head to Avalon City, and then get into a group there. I
would also explain that you are a returning player and a bit rusty, that
excuses you form any umm screw ups lol.

Another thing I would do is start a new character, so you can re-learn the
ropes from scratch, and maybe meet some new people and join a guild.

Overall you will probably find that after a couple hours of playing in a
decent group, you will pick up on it again.

Hi,

Your two best on-line sources for information are the Camelot Herald and
DAOC Allakazam. The first is free, the second costs a reasonable amount.
Both will get you up to speed with the significant changes in the game,
things like crafting choices, housing, the whole ToA set of changes
(Master Levels, artifacts, etc.), New Frontiers, etc. Plus, the Herald
will keep you appraised of what's soon to come, Catacombs with a new class
(Heretic), other changes in 1.72, etc.

If you wish to delve heavily into ToA, I suggest the Prima book, as well.
Unfortunately, some things have changed since it was published, but it is
a great reference for those things that haven't changed. Back it up with
Vision of Sages and ToA Scrolls sites.

My wife has the electronic New Frontiers "book", which she uses
occasionally, although the in-game maps seem to make it less useful to
her, a Skald.

Besides that, I would just watch guild/alliance chat for current in-game
info and nuances. Other Clerics should be able to fill you in on the
latest heals and buffs, and debuffs, if Clerics get them. (None of mine
are high enough.)
