Question Reuse modular cables from 650w for 850w

Couple years ago I had one of my 2 identical xfx 650w go out, xfx sent me a replacement new 850w, when it came in i just swapped boxes and not cables….Was this ok to do?

Im doing a new build and need to swap the xfx 850 to my other build with the xfx 650, do I change all the cables this time?

I never had a problem but please enlighten me, I mean if I was going from 650 to 1k watt then id change it…

Does psu all have different gauge wires?

XFX has many models of power supply.

Same pinout. Both use Seasonic. Only difference is XTR uses RT platform and XTR2 uses Prime.
