reuse old case

i got a old hp dx2200 microtower that im thinking of ripping all parts out and reuse as a case for new parts. anybody know if hp use same size on motherboard as Micro atx on these old computers or if the standoffs wont match? thanks

Yes the mobo size is mico atx.

I would avoid this if I were you.

Although a micro tower is a bit larger than most HP/Compaq/DELL/Ect. mass produced desktop solutions, many of these are customized to fit customized components such as mother/daughter boards and back panel slot assignments. Additionally most of these cases did not have good air flow for their previous technology - so it is doubtful that they will be sufficient for newer tech.

I know - there is a driving desire to be frugal and to reuse - but you will be much happier with the results if you purchase a good airflow mid (not micro) tower case.

You will likely be able to re-use CD-ROM/ HDD and other standard components in the new case - so it's not a total loss. You will also have more space available for larger video cards and additional hard drives.

Here is the problem tho.. You cant use the front panel because it use a 10 pin connector. So you would need some real modding to make it work

Is it possible? Yes. Is it a practical solution? No. I suggest finding yourself a cheapish case on one of the many online marketplaces. (You can typically get a reasonable case that supports the hardware you want for under $40)

thanks for the information , if it dont use the regular Connection to Power connectors i guess it isnt Worth it. they sell new cases for about 40 shere to i was justb eing cheap or i tnhis case trying to make use of this old shit maybe i can sell it for 25 s or something though since its fully working

Even if you are being frugal, you might be able to reserve it as a emulation machine, or to play old games on.
