Reusing 7 years old drive?

Solution

SATA is SATA. The cables will work.

The OS on that drive, unlikely.
What OS is it? Win 7 OEM or Retail? If OEM, you need a whole new OS, license included. If an actual Retail license, you can (probably) reuse that license key.
But it will still need a fresh OS install.

What were the old parts?

After 7 years, it needs a fresh OS install anyway.

The physical drive? Yeah, maybe.
I wouldn't use it for the OS drive, though.

Or are you wanting to use the current OS on it? No, a full rebuild will probably need a full OS reinstall.

Oh, yeah that was actually the point. I wanted to use the windows 7 from that drive, but I have one more question. Are the new sata cables backwards compatible, or should I look for some kind of adapter?
