Reusing Storage in New Build

I am upgrading and building my own computer but to save money i was thinking of just reusing a hard drive that I used for a different computer. If i just plug it in will windows be ready to use. How do i install windows from a hard drive that already has it.

It depends on what Windows you using. Since it's an older build, I can assume it is using Windows 7?

I still use this build for casual things and the new rig is for gaming. THe older rig has windows 10 home installed.
