Revamping Old HP G6 Laptop, Will it Work

Hello! I am currently working on revamping an old HP G6 laptop as the title says. I want to change it's current i3-2350m to an i7-2620m, and according to the manual, that should work. My worry is that the heatsink/fan may need to be changed; but they're both intel chips, so can I just switch them without changing the fan & heatsink?
For anyone wondering, I am also adding in 4 gb more ram, but I don't think that's relevant. Have a great day!

Can't be certain until it's taken apart. That processor comes in 2 forms: rPGA988B and BGA1023.

It's the PGA form I assume as BGA parts are soldered. And as long as the TDP is the same it should work with the same cooler but I would clean the old cooler out, laptop fans get dusty.

Hi mate did upgrade work for you? Please advise whether possible to upgrade hp g6 pavillion from i3-2330M to i7-2860QM, i7-3632QM, i7-3740QM or i7-3840QM?
