The past two weeks I've been spending a lot of time reading reviews, comparing prices, looking for manufacturers with good reputations, etc. The link above shows the components I've (almost) settled on.

This will be my first self made PC. It's also going to be used to play countless hours of games. I may attempt to try overclocking for the first time later on. Besides that, I don't have any special plans for it.

Minus the monitor and the OS, the price is around $1250. I didn't really start with a budget in mind. I can afford to spend a couple $100 more if the change is a big enough improvement and if it's a good deal. AKA looking for price : performance.

I'm looking for recommendations. I'm kind of iffy about the case and the memory. They should be easy choices but there's so many options. Let me know what you think.

That monitor is probably overkill. I'm planning on playing a few FPS games and I don't want to have annoying input lag, slow response times, etc. Any suggestion?

if you want no annoying input lag then you want a tn panel with a 2ms or less response time...ips panels are nice but has high input lag most are 6 to 8ms.

144hz refresh rate is smooth and nice for fps games but you need some real graphics horsepower to back it up even a 780 cant get 144fps on most newer games. you would need to go sli if you are trying to achieve that. im personally happy with 60-80 fps. but if you are mainly a fps player and want the smoothness you could always hold the option to sli down the road.
