Question Revit + Autocad + GPU clock

Hi there,

so i've just noticed some unusal behaviour with my GPU in regard to using Autodesk products.

I usually use Revit in conjuction with Autocad on a 3 monitor setup. With all 3 monitors turned on, my GPU clock stays at base levels as it should.

In the past, using Revit + Autocad and even Sketchup never causes the GPU clock to up from this, however now i'm just noticing that the when using either of the forst 2 programs, the GPU clock is spiking up to load levels, as though i were gaming or rendering.

This is new, seemingly random behviour. It was working as it should after the recent Nvidia update (471.11), and now all of a sudden, out of the blue without changing anything in the system, the GPU is spiking up when using just those Autodesk products.

Tried using 3DS max, and that worked just fine, no abnormal GPU clock, same with Sketchup, both rather intensive 3D programs

Ive tried a clean driver install using DDU but the problem persists, try turning off Hardware Acceleration in both programs, nothing doing.

Any ideas?

Update: rolled back to driver 466.47 and the clock spiking has gone away, everything back to normal - which sucks because i was enjoying the performance of 471.11 when gaming

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition.

Depending on circumstances the PSU may be starting to falter and is sporadically unable to keep up with power demands.

sorry man, i should have included that:

Windows 10 21H1
intel i9 9900k
GTX 1080Ti
Bequiet! 850W Straight Power 11 Gold

Everything except the GPU is from December 2019, GPU from 2 years before that.

It's all working fine now, ive been modelling and drafting with both programs for the past 4 hours and the GPU clock is where it should be - this is with driver 466.47
With 471.11, it gamed perfectly, GPU temp. on some games (BFV) didnt even break 70°.

For the first week or so after updating, both Revit + Autocad worked just fine. Like i said, the GPU clock spiking up to load levels with both programs just sort of came out of nowhere, although it did start with Autocad first - which i dont use as much so chose to ignore - and only today started happening also with Revit, which is my main work program.

There was no visible performance lag with either program either, only real problem was the GPU temp. rose a few degrees, from around 38° to 42-44° with the increased clock - though i chose to close out of it and look for a solution rather than using it for hours on end as usual and risk messing the machine up good and proper.
