Revving up a CPU fan speed manually?

Okay, so I recently took apart an old PC and salvaged the CPU fan. Its a small 3 wire fan and what I did was wire the red and black wire to the red and black wire of a USB cable. Now I have a small USB powered fan for when it gets hot but the problem is that the fan speed is slow and I was wondering how I could increase it.

Sorry if this is in the wrong category...

You can only pull 5V from a USB connector. Fan speed is determined by voltage (mostly). That fan is designed to run on 12V on the red wire. You'll have to find some other way to wire it up.

EDIT: Try pulling out one of the old floppy drive connecters if you still have one of those. YELLOW is 12V on the power supply!
