I have some power supply fansa dn i wanted to get them working in my tower...
One of the fans had this weird plug so i took the red and black wire out of it..

and now i have the wires and onthe end i have those metal pronged things

anyhow i got one of my power tails from my power supply in my tower and i our the red in the back of the power tail and the black in the black end
and the fan works

i want to know if there is any fire hazard at all by doing this..

any harm??

Yes, dont foget to insulate (tape) the wires, no hazzard at all, remeber though, the wires coming from your power supply- Yellow=12V, Red=5V, Black=ground. Normally the wires on the fans, are Red-positive (normally 12V but 5V fans are also avaialble), Black=ground, There may also be a 3rd wire (often white- but can be other colors) this isnt needed if connecting as you are- it is used to measure fan speed. The power supply fans you are using will be 12V so connect them to the Yellow and Black from the PSU- of course they will work if you connect them to the Red from the PSU, but will run 1t 5V therefore they will spin slower.
