I know that these fans cannot be unplugged because they spin. The case has an LED button to change the color and now the button doesn't do anything. Strangely when I reboot the system and hold the power button for .5-1 second as it is booting the top case fan lights up but the color can't be changed and the bottom case fan doesn't light up. My theory is that the built-in RGB controller is dead, but IDK.

Sounds like you might be right. You might also try unplugging and replugging in the LED/RGB SW connector to the motherboard just to make sure its snug too.
funnily enough, I don't think the fans use that connector because I cannot find it anywhere. I would think that if it was unplugged it would be visible at least. I have unplugged the SATA power from the fans and nothing changes.

That's interesting. That being the case, I would say the controller has likely died or is dying a slow death.
Interestingly enough, the fans stopped lighting up when I was searching for a SATA port on the mobo, when I realized the SATA ports were under the GPU support bracket. If only I had realized this and I wouldn't have needed to mess with it and it probably still would be working. 😡😡 This is so frustrating, I wish there was something simple I could due to fix it without taking apart the PC since I don't really feel comfortable. Is there any way to reset or restart the built-in RGB controller?

Probably not since even their site doesn't make reference to the controller at all. It's likely just a simple PCB pass-through controller that has no brain attached to it.

There are honestly many different types. They range from the very basic to the very complex. HERE is an example of one and all you would do is plug all leads and power into this versus direct into the motherboard/etc.
Thanks for finding an example of one. I am not sure if it would work because I am not even sure if there is even a cable coming from the fans just for the led or if the data power handles all of it.
