Question RGB controller or PSU issue ?

Mar 9, 2013

I'm unsure how to approach this issue so I'll start with my system specs.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
MOBO: Gigabyte B450 Aorus M
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz
PSU: 700W
Case: Musetex ATX Mid-tower with 6 RGB fans and RGB controller
2 SSD's: 500 GB and 1TB
1 HDD: 1 TB
GPU: GTX 1660 Ti
Sound: Xonar DSX
CPU cooler: ID-Cooling Zoomflow 240mm ARGB

This is a new build last week. So, here's the issue. I installed the AIO cooler today (it was the last piece to arrive). Previously everything worked fine but now my system will only start if I do not have the RGB header for the 6 case fans connected to a SATA header. There is a light on the motherboard that comes on when I plug the PSU in. When I have the RGB controller connected, the light on the motherboard does not flash as normal when I turn the power switch on at the back of the PSU. With the switch on, I unplug the RGB controller from the PSU and the light flashes indicating the motherboard has power. This was about 3 hours of frustration and troubleshooting to figure out. lol

Could this be because my PSU does not have enough wattage to power everything or does this sound more like a RGB controller issue?

I'm somewhat new to RGB but have built PC's for 20 years.

Thank you for any suggestions anyone has. Incidentally, I have a 850W PSU on the way just in case.
