Rgb splitting safe?

If there is only one plug for rgb on my motherboard, can I use a splitter to have many different components rgb? Will it damage the mobo and will it have sufficient brightness?

There's no unlimited current, you have to check maximum it can give and how much power do all LEDs need.

I'm having trouble finding how much the maximum and how much each thing needs so if I do go over, what would happen?

Something would have to give, most probably output connection on the MB. It's much safer to go with a dedicated RGB light controller. Something like this: http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cooling-rgb-accessories/rgb-led-controller/

Most boards give 36w on rgb headers ,which to be fair is quite a lot.

Whats the board model ?? What are you planning on running from it ??
