hello there,

friend of mine bought PC yesterday, specs below:

MSI P6N motherboard (NOT diamond one... http://www.msi-computer.de/produkte/main_idx_view.php?Prod_id=658, exaclty the same as http://evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=122-CK-NF68-A1&family=20)
8800 GTS 640MB, EVGA Superclocked
Patriot DDR2-800 CL4 EPP
E6400 (leftover from previous config)
BeQuiet StraightPower 650W PSU
2x 320 GB disks in RAID 0

everything works fine, however his MCP reports over 70 C without fan, and around 65 C with fan, while the manual cleary states that additional fan should only be used when extremely overclocking... the voltage is Auto, 1.5 V and it is the lowest voltage that can be set in BIOS

any idea ?

some 22C, MCP temp is 64C with fan atm

just checked some info on google - the SPP->MCP voltage was set to auto and, due to overclock (6400@2.66) + linkboost, was auto set to 1.45, changed it to 1.2v and it is some 64-65 C WITH fan
