Rig for a Star citizen's recommended requirements ?

i'm planning to buy a new rig for a long term use. so i thought i'd build a one for the highest requirements games at present. but what's with the sys req with this game?

in 1080p Ultra Requirements it says Core i7-5960X or FX-9590 . ?
is this a joke because FX-9590 will be equal to a 3rd gen i7 at best.
so why would it need a 5th gen intel cpu with 16 logical cores?

i can get a FX-9590 rig or a i5-6500 rig at same prize, but after seeing this i'm confused
any advice?

Agreed those stats don't make a lot of sense. However, you have to keep in mind they are still building the game and its engine. Optimization may be pretty far off.

I see nothing wrong with a fast Intel quad core, and, yes, AMD is to be avoided for new builds.

There are mods for older Crysis engines that can cripple the fastest machines, though.

Based on the current alpha, I'd guess the computer capable of running it properly hasn't been designed yet (it runs awfully on everything). I'm sure they'll optimize it better before release, but you have to wonder how much they'll optimize it.

If they're the same price go i5-6500, that's a more-powerful chip. AMD hasn't released a genuinely new FX chip in 4 years, and they weren't even competitive back then.

Yep, placing an FX 9590 and i7 5960X in the same category shows how much salt should be taken with those recommendations. That said (and prob what their team is getting at), SC is developed to scale with threads beyond the usual 2/4...to that end AMD's "more core" (ISH) architecture looks cool.

IMO, a z97/z170 i7 is going to be the best CPU for SC (cost+performance). Depending on how Crytek 3/SC favors hz over threads...or vice versa...is the bigger question when deciding on a 9590 or i5 4690/6500.

I'd personally choose the intel chip, even if it trades blows with an AMD in SC...across other benchmarks you'll come out ahead. Cheers mate, congrats on the new system!

edit: The BEST recommendation (if it's within budget) would be an x99 platform with an i7 5820K.

yeah i think i'd go with the i5 considering i'm building it for long term use. and can't wait another year even though my friends tell me to wait for zen.

Thanx and yep i'm planning to get a i5 6500 with a GTX980Ti because i loved Ti series since GeForce4 Ti 128mb card came out lol.(my first card and it could even play 256mb fx6600 required games that did'n work on GeForce4 128mb series)
