Hello. I want to upgrade my computer with some newer hardware parts and Im having some trouble finding out if they are compatible with each other. I have some parts from my old rig which I would like to continue to use in me future new rig. What I want with the new rig to is to be able to game some AAA game in ultra or high graphics while compiling some c++ code and running some eclipse thing (dont think I will, but just so you know what Im aiming at). Don't have a budget, but I don't think I will go extremely apes**t with money... just apes**t.
I also wont be doing any overclocking in the near future, but I would like to have my new rig looked upon as "good" for 2 years or more if possible.

I have done some research and some of the parts I would like are:

Motherboard:
ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO, Socket-1150 ATX
or
Asus Rampage V Extreme, Socket-2011-3 E-ATX
don't know which one, please give me some tips :) I also wont need WiFi thingy

CPU:
Intel Core i7-4790K Socket-LGA1150,Quad Core,4.0GHz

CPU Cooler:
Cooler Master Nepton 280L CPU Kjøler 775/1150/1155/1156/1366
(not really sure about this one becuase I have no idea. I just dont want anything too big but still powerfull. I currently have the Noctua NH-C12P SE14 which I think is to big)

GPU:
MSI GeForce GTX 980 Gaming 4GB PhysX PCI-Express 3.0
just one, because I dont think I would need two of those, but please let me know if it would be a huge power boost to have to with SLI

PSU:(I already have this one from before)
Corsair HX 850W PSU
I dont know if 850W is enough but I shure hope so

RAM:
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz 16GB DDR4, (x2)

SSD:
Corsair SSD Force Series GS 480GB 2.5" SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0) (for OS)
+
Intel® SSD 320 Series 120GB 2.5", 25nm (the one I have from before, but 120 GB for os is not enough, atleast when being me and running windows)

HDD:
Seagate Barracuda® 3TB (I have from before)

Case:
Cooler Master Silencio 550 Midi Tower (I have from before, but its only Midi and not Full. I would like it if I could still use this one)

I have all the other mumbojumbo such as screens, mouse, keyboard etc.

If I ask for too much please help me with a link to a good Blu-Ray RW Writer if that exists (which Im pretty sure does).

I would love some help and feedback. :)

Solution
Everything is good to go, but:
1, As stated above, you cannot use an LGA 1150 CPU with an LGA 2011-3 board
2, Unless you have a SUPER big budget, a 980 isn`t really necessary as it only offers a mediocre performance boost over the 970, which I would recommend.
3, You are kinda overpaying for the RAM AND for the SSD.

The i7-4970k isn't compatable with a 2011-3 motherboard. And also what is your budge And also on your gpu what resolution are you playing on? if your going to play on 1440p @ 144hz then go with the sli and if your playing at 60hz don't go with sli.

Okay, so I would have to go with the Asus Hero motherboard then instead of the rampage, or are there any better ASUS motherboards that would suit me better? I dont have a budget, so dont worry about that. Im not sure about the last question. Since Im a n00b I have to ask; is it about what screens Im using? I have two 27 inch LG IPS LED screens (with hdmi connection of course).

The Maximux VII Formula mobo would be kinda better but it`s 100$ more...

What i mean is that if you want to play a game at 144 fps on a 14440p 144hz screen you might want to pick up another gtx 980 but other wises you don't need it. And also IMO Asus maximus boards are good but they are way to overpriced even with all their features. IMO just go with the cheapest z97 board with sata express.

Thank you! btw, I can see that the the only one to support ddr4 ram is the asus rampage, which is what I wanted because I heard it was alot better. And the only reason I chose that specific ssd is because its red and thats sortoff the theme Im going for 😛

Whoops! didnt mean to mark this as the answer, and I dont know how to change it. sorry

No problem. The only boards to support DDR4 are X99 boards.
