right power setup?

hello all!

I have done some rewiring on my PC (trying to diagnose a crash) and I realized I had a power cord plugged from the pcie port on my psu (rosewill quark 850) to the GPU (MSI r9 390x). and the cord looped on itself, and plugged into the gpus other port as well.is this safe? could this be causing a gpu crash? should I use two separate cords?

It's safe enough if wires are thick enough. That's why it was done like that anyway.

It is preferable to run 2 separate cables to a GPU if you can.
That way you are halving the load on one cable and output.
