Ripjaws and Hyper Evo

Does anyone know if this ram will fit under the hyper evo using the first slot of ram on the Z77x-UD3H board? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=4#scrollFullInfo

If not how high did you have to slide the fan up on the heat sync? I'm going to use a push/pull setup.

Those sticks are about the same height of Corsair Vengeance RAM, and when I was using them they did not fit under that cooler. I ended up just pulling the heatsink off of the closet DIMM to the socket.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if it was possible to dremel material off the top of the ripjaw heatsync? The heatsync isn't joined at the very top like tweezers is it? Also about how much did they obstruct into the hyper evo fan?

I just love the reviews of this ram, I want to make it work.

It was just a small clearance problem, but I was using Corsair Vengeance sticks, which look about the same size. You should be able to Dremel it without a problem.

Great! I just realized I could probably also slip the standard heat syncs off some old gskill ram I have as a last resort.

To be honest, DDR3 does not need the heatsinks at all, 1.5V does not generate enough heat to make a difference. They mostly just add those to make them look cool

That's another reason I like this one, it doesn't go above 1.5v like other ram with matched performance.

*edit* brain fart, confused this ram with another, this ram is actually rated at 1.65v

Even at 1.65 it doesn't really generate that much heat. With DDR and DDR2 it was more necessary, and with Rambus it was absolutely necessary. But DDR3 is cool.
