Ripjaws V runs at higher clock speeds with lower timings than XMP?

Hello Community.

is it normal for G.Skill Ripjaws V for running way! Higher with solid timings than XMP says? (because i want to buy a second kit for my brother.)

Long Story Short.

i bought the Ripjaws V 3200 2x8GB with CL16-18-18-38 at 1.35v (XMP)

The Ripjaws V 3600 2x8GB (Which cost around 35% more) runs with 19-20-20-40 (XMP)

my 2 3200 sticks are running at 3600 Mhz with 18-19-19-39 with 1.35v or 4200 Mhz 20-21-21-42 1.4v.

Is that normal for G.Skill to spec their ram way to low or do i just have luck?


with running i talk about 24 Hours of Memtest (booted from USB Stick) without a single Error.

Your a little lucky. The memory controller also determinee how far ram can go with stability.

If i looked correctly the Samsung Dies are Dual ranked? and running with 16-16-16 and not 16-18 and Single Rank (like mine)

I ment that of you were running amd it would be harder to get to that speed. Intel imc can allow for better oc. Fast kits like 3200 usually come with binned chips.
