Ripjaws vs pi series

hi,

so i'm looking at getting 8gb ram to go with my gigabyte ga-p55a-ud7 mobo and core i7 860.

narrowed it down to these 2 -

Gskill F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM

Gskill F3-12800CL6D-4GBPI

which one do u guys think would be the better option?

Hi.

For performance is better the 2nd one. But u also need bear in mind the price. What price are both kits?

for 8 gb? the PI series would be costlier by about 15 dollars or so.

1- Why do u need 8GB?, for games and normal applications 4GB is enough today.
2- IMO the best option price/performance are the Ripjwas.

yeah, i know. but i'm the sort....i've gone overbudget (way over budget )on pretty much every single part of my new pc and it seems a little stupid to skimp on the last bit...but you're right...think i'll go for 4 gb now and bump it up to 8 gb if i feel the need for it. but in terms of actual performance the pi series would be faster right? from what little i understand of cas numbers or whatever lower is better/faster? and the pi is cs6 versus the cs7 for the ripjaws. things is i found a glowing review elsewhere for the ripjaws but nothing for the pi series yet......anyways, thanks for the help!!

Well, the PI series are 6-8-6-24 @ 1.6V and the Ripjaws are 7-8-7-24 @ 1.65V so, u won't see a very big difference in performance.
