Ripjaws Z Series and Ripjaws X Serie. Is there any difference?

Hello, I'm wondering which RAM would be preferable. G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB or x2 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB. Both look to have identical specs, but the X series would be $35 cheaper if I bought two sets of them.

The X series came out with the 1155 mobos and the Z series was aimed at X79 - (then was expanded), theX series is ever so slightly better w/ dual channel setups than the Z series, which is slightly better tuned in the advanced timings towards true quad channel
