My friend ripped his GPU out of the pci-e slot without undoing the latch and now no graphics are outputted from the GPU or the inbuilt graphics from the CPU. The latch is broken however you can still make it sit in the slot in which it gets power and the fans spin but no output is displayed. I put the GPU into my system and it worked fine. I attempted to see if the inbuilt graphics worked and they didn't either. I'm assuming this is a motherboard issue however I want to make sure before I make him buy another one.

Solution
Likely broke the motherboard slot and caused one or more pins to short (potentially). Far easier to replace the motherboard than to try and fix the damage.
