Hi all!

I recently installed Rise of The Tomb Raider and i noticed that i have a very low FPS (10 -20 in open areas and 30 to 50 in tombs) this at very high settings, its the only game so far that runs so bad, so my question is... why is that happening ? i see a lot of videos with far better FPS with same video card and same settings.

Here are my specs:

GPU: Asus Direct CU II AMD R9 290
RAM: 16GB Gskill Sniper 1600mhz
MoBo: Asus Crosshair V formula Z
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 960T
PSU: XFX Pro Series 850W Black Edition
SSD: Samsung EVO 250GB
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

Any help will be appreciated!

That game is very demanding,i'm playing it currently and i have cpu bottleneck especially in open areas and i can see that you are also using old cpu so you probably have that problem too

Damn...i have to upgrade CPU now... didnt know that Phenom II could bottleneck already!

Phenom II cpu gives less performance than Core 2 Quad or Xeon 771 processors so for that card you definitely need better cpu

Well... I just noticed that someone moved the case of the PC too close to the wall, and that was blocking the output vent causing overheating.... i moved back again and now the FPS are nearly close as the videos i saw in youtube. My bad i didnt check the temperature before.

But im going to upgrade the CPU as soon as i can.... maybe an FX 8370

Thanks for the help mate.

You are wasting a lot of gpu power with that cpu you will get a lot better performance with better cpu so upgrade it as soon as you can and also you might consider overclocking cpu if you have proper cooler
