Hello i have a question.I work as a network engineer at a local shop. For my whole time i have been using only cables, sockets and modular jacks for my networks. Today my eyes came across the rj 45 clutches, particulary this one
http://www.cosmodata.gr/product/16370/rj45-8p-8c-1-1-utp-cat5e-at-a8-8

Do they work reliably,or i may have issues? Will i have my whole gigabit speed if i use them? Are they about the same as the modular jacks?

Solution

My wrong i tho those are keystones.

Those ones are fine, as long as its in a safe place so the cables don't loose grip because of being kicked/moved/pushed.
Also those often oxidize, which means you need to unplug cables @ both sides and reinsert them to have once again stable connection from time to time ( like in a span of 5-6 months).
As long as they are easy to reach and not for a critical service, they are fine.
If you know how to crimp em they're okay. They are pretty reliable, but single ones like this one are prone to be broken.
You can use whole gigabit if you crimp all the wires, after all as a network engineer you know that you get a gigabit speed only if u have full 8 wires.
I am not sure what do you mean by modular jacks.
They are the same as any other patch panel jack, just that's in a different shape/form.
If you are going to use a phone on this cable, a keystone of cat6 is better, since the interference wud be smaller, yet cat5 is more than enough.
Personally i prefer, the ones that are mounted in the wall, like power outlets, since there is less chance to kick em/break em.

The only worry you have about thing like this is mechanical failure. If it's tucked away, temperature controlled indoors and got gold pins, it should last forever, or until obsolescence. If it's a non-gold cheapy tin pins and outdoor harsh environment, I wouldn't bet 5 cent on it.

Over here at Yank-land we call these couplers or gender-changer. :)
