RMA for 1 dead pixel?

Hello my fellow hardware geeks!

I bought an expensive monitor for about 600$ 3 months ago. It's an ASUS PB278QR (2560x1440). Sadly, a dead pixel has already popped up on my screen at the top. It's small, but it annoys me as hell whenever there is light colored background.

Is it wise to send it for RMA? I game a lot and no screen for a few weeks would hurt a lot, if it's just going to be send back with a message like "it's not broken, just look away huuur", which I have experienced a few times before with phones and alike.

What would you do?

I would RMA a monitor costing $600 right away if it had any issue at all lol, but maybe that's my OCD 😛 You could contact the manufacturer or retailer that you purchased it from first and ask if they would accept an RMA after explaining your issue.

They usually have a minimum number of dead pixel before they consider it as defective, so depending on where you bought it, for just one dead pixel i dont think they will replace it.

but before you attempt to RMA it, why not just phone the customer support and ask them if they will replace it?

Thank you for the quick answers, great community!

I already contacted customer support of the reseller, they would gladly take it in. I told them that I would send a picture of the dead pixel before I send it in. That way they can confirm wether or not there is any reason to send it in. They will check on monday. (if any of you is interested I will post there answer on the thread).

I just strongly cling on to my rights as a customer. You can't sell me a product which doesn't work flawlessly within 3 months, no way.

I do have a Full-HD TV standing in my bed room, but it's 40 inches, a bit on the big side. It might be a temporary solution!

Thanks for your advice everyone! :)
