So I had to rma my 980ti and they've replaced it with a 1070ti. However the replacement card didn't come in a retail box.
Anyone got experience of warranty on a replacement part?

A lot of the time, you receive a refurb part, rather than actually "brand new" off the assembly line.
This is typical.

And you got a better part.
I had exactly the same thing with a SanDisk SSD last December.
Refurb, but a slightly better and newer drive model.

That's not abnormal. Many RMA's are sent back in the boxes the old part came in.

Apparently the new part holds the same remaining warranty as the old.

That is normal.

3 year warranty
Purchase: 2018
Warranty until 2021
Die and replaced, 2019
Warranty on the replacement is still only to 2021...you don't start a whole new 3 year warranty period.
