The problem is that video games are still considered by majority to be an entertainment form explicitly for kids and no statistic can change their minds.

I agree that parents need to be discerning about what games their kids play. I know I am. My teens and I enjoy playing games together, and I won't let them play this game (thankfully, they don't want to, either).

That said, though, I am bothered by the direction of games. More and more games offend *me* now, and I'm not a kid, and I've seen more stuff in real life than most. I no longer want to be assaulted by profanity (I mean, the really bad stuff) non-stop, nor see over-the-top gore, nor have to endure irrelevent hard-core stuff.

It's a shame that a company can create a game which has great appeal based on the story and graphics, but can't make the hard-core stuff optional. I tried a war game recently, and man, grew tired of the language really quickly.

I don't begrudge you if you want those things, I just don't understand why companies can't include optional filters.
