@slyu9213 Hell yeah I do think it's enough to delay a game for 18 months.
Poeple tend to think that during this whole time R* was only working to port the game to the PC, which is all wrong.
GTA 5 was release on September 17, 2013, and GTA online 2 weeks later. The launch of GTA Online was so problematic that the dev team spent at least 6 months trying to fix all connection problems and glitches.
Then there's the next gen console port. The first person view alone could've taken 8 months to do. They have create all the interiors for all cars, trucks, motocycles, planes, helicopters, boats etc (do you know how many vehicules there are in GTA?), and add animations. They also have to create weapon view, and make sure that everything has been QAed, and bug fixed.
Then there's the heist. It is easily the most complexe piece of gameplay of history of GTA, from a game design and programming perspectives. I would not be surprised that they had multiple implementations of the feature and throw them away to start from scratch.
Then there's dev team ramping down after the initial release. Maybe they already started working on GTA 6, or Red Dead Redemption 2, or a new IP. We don't know...
But I know for sure that these things take time, for I was doing this kind of work for the past 10 years.
And also I know that every time R* releases something, it is always quality.
So yes I am a bit disappointed by the new delay, but am still looking forward to play a great game
