Hello everyone,

I have been using my Asus ROG GL552VW for work purposes. After the recent performance decrease, I decided to upgrade it with an SSD.

To be honest, I haven't been following the developments with SSD and stuff. So, I just took my laptop along with me to the store hoping that the seller would recommend me the suitable SSD and set it up as well.

I showed him the laptop and there is this warning on the back:

Later, he recommended the OCZ 128GB RD400 NVMe M.2 Sata SSD and we plugged it in.

However, it was stupid of me that I didn't even check if the disk was working. I thanked the guy and left.

Now, I can't run this device and I have no idea why. I have been looking for this issue all over the web and I have tried below steps:

1- I checked the "device manager", it wasn't shown there.
2- I checked the "disk manager", it wasn't shown there.
3- I updated my BIOS and tried to see if I could modify anything from SATA section and "enable" the new SSD; but no. There was nothing...

Conclusion: After all my researches and advices from my friends, I am afraid that my laptop doesn't support the new NVMe SSD.

Do you guys agree with this? Do you have any solution for this problem?

To be honest, I really would like to use this SSD because as far as I see this SSD is some really crazy fast thing... So, I am looking for some advise to make it possible to use this SSD.

Thanks in advance for all your kind comments.

Regards,

Mehmet

Thank you USAFRet.

Honestly, I was hoping that I could use this SSD.

Anyhow, I will go to the store again and change it with another suitable device. I am thinking of changing the OCZ with Samsung 250GB 850 EVO mSata SSD.

If you are familiar with this GL552VW and this Samsun 850 EVO SSD; would you confirm that it would fit my laptop?

Thanks,

Mehmet

Dear USAFRet,

Thank you so much for quick and accurate response, much appreciated.

However, I am a little bit confused.

Because, the M.2 socket inside my laptop is suitable for the "B" type socket which was also the product I purchased (OCZ).

I have checked the amazon links you sent and I noticed that these products are with "M" type pins.

Do you think that these "M" type pin products will fit in my M.2 slot?

Thanks & regards,

Mehmet
