Hi guys,

I wanna buy a graphics card and it is gonna be my first ever gpu : )

Available options:
ASUS - ROG-STRIX-RTX2070-O8G-GAMING -> 729€
ASUS - ROG -STRIX-RTX2060-6G-GAMING --> 470€
ASUS - ROG STRIX-GTX1070-8G-GAMING -> 509€ (obviously out of question)

My PC :
- ASUS VG278Q 27" 1080p 144hz 1ms Gsync compatible freesync
- i7 8700K
- Corsair RAM 16GB 3000Mhz
- Motherboard ROG MAXIMUS X HERO

So considering all above, which one should I get, 2060 or 2070?
The 2070 is pretty expensive in my country : / but at the same time I don't wanna rush with 2060 (I'm trying not to ruin this XD)

Update: Forgot to mention AMD Vega II release date is February 7, 2019, can this have any impact on Nvidia prices? Is it a good idea to wait or it's gonna be a waste of time?

Solution
Yes if you are considering the long term benefits spending the extra on a RTX2070 will give you possibly a few extra years of capability.

So either spend less now and upgrade sooner or spend more now and upgrade later.

Given those options if you can justify it financially the RTX2070 is your best bet. It will last you longer and give you better performance during that time.

According to your listed monitor spec, I assume you will be playing games at 1080p resolution. Is that correct?

If that is the case, both the 2060 and 2070 are powerful enough to fuel your gaming need. They both can hand 1080p at high fps very well.
So then it comes down to price. Whichever one is cheaper you should get it.

But if you want to future proof your build and make room for 2k gaming (1440p), then get the 2070 at least.

Thank you for your reply,
Yes, I will be playing games at 1080p 144hz, but even with ray tracing and dlss? it's an RTX card so I guess we should consider those too? Am I right?

Thank you for your reply,
"...but the RTX2070 will be better..." Can you give me a percentage or a number, if possible?

Thanks, so can we say that "± 20fps" justifies 259€ gap??

Only you can answer that question. For me? No.

Hi, thanks for your reply
Well for me it's a No too for sure and that's why I'm hesitant, but after some research I found out that the 6GB is gonna bottleneck me in the future (I guess we're talking about +4years), plus, last year I was willing to get a GTX 1070Ti (for the same reason "future proof"), today it is priced like 695.x€, so from this standpoint, It doesn't really make sense to go with 1070Ti over 2070, for the 2060, I think the mistake we're doing is comparing it with 2070 : /, that's why it doesn't make sense, we should compare it with the 1080 and 1070 Ti because all of them are made for 2k gaming, while 2060 is not, it's just a good card that can handle 2k gaming NOW, just like 2070 can handle 4k gaming for NOW, so I think we are paying for the (VRAM + avg ±15%) "comparing" to the 2060 and for the new technology "comparing" to old gen, and at the end of the day, the price is huge for sure, but If you really think about, it is a ROG STRIX puls in Spain (taxes) : /.
Does this make any sense XD?? and sorry If I asked a lot, that's how I analyze things, by asking a lot of questions even the obvious ones XD
