Hi guys,

I'm the most novice of novices so go easy on me- i fear i may be in over my head.

I've gathered all the parts for my new build but am not sure what order to tackle the software part. I'm confident i am able to strap it all together its only the tech stuff that scares me.

From what i gather lurking on here ive made these steps for myself starting at the beginning, let me know if you have a better way or if im doing something stupid.

1. Strap everything together (minus graphics card)
2. Power on
3. update bios via usb
4. install windows 7
5. Do i update chipset and all other mobo drivers? or is windows update competent enough to do this for me?
6. Plug in graphics card
7. Boot up and install graphics card software.

FYI- heres what im working with
p8z68 LX LGA mobo
i5 2500k
sapphire 6850
Seagate 1tb HDD
Gskill value 1333 ram
Asus cd drive
Windows 7 Home

Thanks!

Just realized i may have posted in the wrong thread too... could a mod kindly move this to Hardware/New builds for me if thats where this goes?

Thanks, on second thought i think i did choose the right forum though.

Question remains, with win7 do you let windows update install mobo and other drivers or do you want to do that manually with individual drivers from the manufacturer?
