Hi,

Actually, I've never even seen a router, that's why you may think this question as stupid. So, please forgive me in advance. 😛

So, now the question is- can I use WiFi router in my PC to access WiFi hotspot?

I mean, one ISP provides Internet Services here via WiFi, so I'll need to have WiFi in my PC. I may get cable broadband in near future (when they make it available here). So, I'm thinking of getting a router, if it can access that network.

So, what you think? Can I access that WiFi Hotspot via WiFi router?

I'm thinking to buy Netgear D500 N150 (Modem+Router) or D-Link DIR-600M (just Router).

So, please suggest me! I'm too much confused regarding this.

PS- If it won't work than please suggest me any cheap and good WiFi adapter. :)

nope. that's not what a router does. a router governs network protocols, subnets, ips, and dns. your building wifi is already running through a router at some point, furthermore pretty much every router needs to be HARD wired into the modem. it won't be able to connect through a wifi signal.

just buy yourself a wireless nic like this

and your computer can connect to the wifi
