Router + fail = Broken pc?

out of curiosity, if for whatever reason, my router shorts out, and it fails, can it brake things connected to it?

I'm not going to say "never".
But the likelihood is about on a par with a herd of snails clogging your fans, while at the same time a giraffe licks the inside of your nose.
