Solution
Yes it's possible. I'm using a similar setup now. I live in a large house that was gutted and turned into separate apartments. Our landlord has a router in B with cables from it going to units A and C where I live. Problem is he forgot the wifi password. After trying everything I could think of, I just brought out a spare router I had, and plugged it in. I had to log into it and turn it into a wifi access point. Units A and B are the PC in your pic, while my laptop/phone is wifi over other router, and my PC is plugged into the back of it. Very doable.

Slow down? Maybe a little, but nothing you should notice. My ping in games is still good.

Most likely you are connecting to a multi layered device which functions as a gateway, router & switch - but without knowing what you are actually talking about it would be hard to tell. Additionally I'm not sure what you mean by a "normal" network. Depending on what appliance you are using, it's functionality, and how it is set up, along with the permissions/shares set up in your OS will depend on how your systems will be able to communicate with each other.

Anything basic. When I turned mine into an access point I lost everything. It became a dumb switch. I can't even log into it. Buy whatever cheap 802.11n router you want. The one I'm using just happens to be a belkin, but it could have been any of the others I have in my junk bin.
