I have a Netgear Nighthawk x6 router and am trying to run a second lan cable. When I plug the ethernet cable into the second lan port I just get a red light on the router interface and no signal. I called Netgear support and they were of no use as my router was no longer under warranty.

What is the issue and how can I fix this?

Yes. So I have 2 ethernet cables from 2 different devices running to the router.

I didn't say that. If your second device is supposed to be gigabit but is only getting 100Mbit connectivity, then start by trying a different cable. Cable problems are the most common reason for link-speed downgrade.

To better help me understand your situation, what device make and model are you connecting? Like I said, 100Mbit connectivity is expected from some devices, for example an older laptop might only be 100Mbit.

The Device is a Visio e550i-A0 and its connected with a 100ft ethernet cable but the tv is 75ft from the router. The only reason its wired is bc the wireless connection doesn't reach the tv.

Ill have to check the manual, but the setup on the tv connects fine. I am just unable to connect to anything (netflix, the browser, etc.).

I bought the cable on amazon.

I couldn't connect to any pages through the browser. I'm still looking for the manual.

edit: The connection speed/type was not in the manual
