Question Router/Modem Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. Quick question. I recently just moved into a new house and prior to moving I set up my internet service a little early. We have a tech coming out in two days or so, but was told by the ISP I could call in with a MAC address from my modem if I had one. In every single room there is a COAX cable coming from the floor (old house). I am able to plug it into my modem/router and everything lights up solid, ISP even confirmed they can see its receiving service/sending back to them. They also confirmed they have had their internet at my current location in the past. However, I am unable to use my internet as a whole. I'm a bit lost on how this is possible when they can see my modem, granted it access, and they are even able to remotely reset it, yet I cant even load anything over wifi. (nighthawk ax6)

I've tried locating the main source but have not had any luck. Is there a solution to this before the tech comes out?

I also noticed ethernet/phone jack lines spread throughout the house, would it be possible to connect it via cat6 and it would work?

Thank you,
-Thyself

Can you get into the router configuration pages. You should be able to access the router even with no coax cable connected to it.
Although many allow access via wifi out of the box with no configuration that is still consider insecure. Some device the very first configuration access must be done via ethernet cables.

I have not read the manual for your router but most have the ability to see the wan connection information. It will tell you is you are really connected to the internet and what your WAN ip is. Many have the ability to do tests like ping and trace. Some even have the ability to run speedtest from the router itself.

In the long run you want to hook a small switch to all the ethernet ports in your house. You then want to hook the switch to the router. The exact details are going to depend what room all the ethernet cables go to.
