So i just recently switched ISPs and i wanted to use my tp link router instead of the one the ISP gave us. But I noticed that the ISP router uses a PON port to get data, so I couldnt connect the PON cable to my tp link router which uses WAN.

Will I have to buy a new router that uses a PON port?

Solution
Does IPS router have lan ports ? just plug their ---> yours with rj-45 cable and disable all wifi on their modem/router. where does IPS "router" cable goes ? I think it might have been modem+ router set and you will need it also.
pon is pasive optical port and "wan" is copper based.
