I just bought a new wireless router as my old one was failing on the wireless side. I got it up and running and its working great on the wireless side. The problem comes with my desktop, if i connect it to the wireless router via ethernet it keeps giving me the ethernet doesnt have a valid ip configuration i have done the netsh winsock reset and ip reset i have also disable and enabled my adapter, checked drivers uninstalled and reinstalled, but it will not work, tried different wires and still nothing... If i connect to the old router into the new and use it as an adhoc than connect to my desktop it works. Is there something im missing here.
New router is a linksys ac1750
old router is a belkin n wireless f5d8236-4 v2

The Linksys is using 192.168.1.1 as its default address and for IP address.
The Belkin is using 192.168.2.1 as its default address and for IP address.

Do you have access control turned on in the new router? If the computer is not added it will not get a valid IP Address.
The computer will give itself a default address (169.x.x.x) that must be cleared before you can connect to the new router.

It could be the computer has a hard coded IP address from the old router.
It will remember and look for the old address (preferred) from the old router.

I actually was able to figure this one out after tinkering with all settings. So do not know if this will ever help anyone out, but here is what i figured out. My Ethernet adapter off my motherboard was a Intel Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V, even after having the newest drivers installed it would not work, what eventually got me up and running was opening up the adapter properties and navigating to the power management tab. I unchecked the Energy Efficient Ethernet box and that allowed it to start working.
