Hi there,

I believe my current modem router is starting to collapse under the stress we are putting it under. We currently have a Netgear N300 modem router with up to 9 devices connected at any single time (laptops, phones, iPads, Xbox, etc.) My speed test brings results of 28 ping, 7.8 down and 0.9 up. Speed isn't the issue though, but rather connectivity. It seems that from a certain point within the house and onwards, connectivity suffers. From my bedroom and further on, we experience sudden and frequent disconnections and have great difficulties re-connecting.

My questions are:

-Is this a sign of a deteriorating modem or even a modem that isn't fit for the stress we put upon it?
-Will a router and modem bridge mode set-up be worth while? I am thinking of D-Link 526E modem and Linksys WRT1900AC router.
-Will the above set-up likely bring better ping/speeds?

Please let me know if you need any more information to adequately answer my question because this disconnecting internet is torturous.

Thanks in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated.

Solution
Yes I didn't have any issues with it at all, logged in to change the pass to something I could remember and it has worked flawlessly every since.
Multiple streaming devices will clash heads on a 802.11n Modem/routers like that one and cause all the issue you mention, moving to a AC router will make a big difference in eliminating deadspots, and overall speed it is a huge leap with devices that can make use of AC dual band.

I use the same modem paired with a Asus RT-AC66R 802.11ac and it was a massive difference over ZyXel pk5001z 802.11n that was supplied to us, the range is nearly doubled and the signal never drops.

Oh awesome! Sounds great. Just a quick question. Is it as easy to set up as this link suggests: http://files.dlink.com.au/Products/DSL-526B/REV_T/SetupGuides/DSL-526B-How_to_configure_Bridge_mode.pdf
