I am wanting to put a new router with my Arris SB6141. When i have just the Arris hooked up to the PC im getting 1,000 mb/s (with all lights blue). if i need wifi I hook my old netgear router but the speed at the PC drops to 100 mb/s( the last indicator blinking red). ( im telling speed from the connection information in the Linux tool bar) Id really like to be able to leave a new router hooked up and maintain the 1,000 mb/s speed to my PC.My question is will the asus ASUS RT-N66R or the RT-AC66U allow my modem to continue delivering 1,000 mb/s to the PC or will all routers kill my pc speed? I dont really need blazing fast wifi but I do for my PC. Thanks for any help you may be able to give~

It would be the router if it doesn't have gigabit ports for both WAN and LAN. You didn't identify what ISP speed you were subscribed to in your original post. A router with gigabit ports should allow you to have the full 150Mbit speed.

thats what im wondering. i have 1000 at the pc without a router hooked up. it was mentioned to me that the speed of the old router is what is throttling back the speed to the pc. im not concerned about the speed to the router. I want to keep 1000 at the pc with a router hooked up. I may not be sure about this topic (hence the thread) but it does seem that when the router is hooked up and i drop to 100 that it must be with the router. if the old router can only handle 100 would a router handling 1750 stop the throttling down. The isp speed is great. supper fast. that is until the old router is connected.with the router disconnected a speed test shows 150+mbps. with the router connected it shows 94+mbps.i just dont see how it isnt the router....

Thank you very much for your patience and taking the time to help. Im going to get the the Asus RT-AC66U. I will come back and update how the new router works just in case some one else is looking for this info. Thank again~
