Hi,

I have HP laptop and I am facing a problem regarding my Laptop to Router connection.
It used to be 150mbps on Same laptop and Same Router, Now it's stuck to 72mbps and it's affecting my gaming because internet lags.

I did have the same problem before but I tweaked some Wi-fi configuration settings that fixed it. But I can't seem to do that again 🙁

I re-searched alot on Internet regarding the problem and found that it has something to do with the Router's N technology so I chose the N Option in my router as well and Put it on 40 Mhz Only as well.

My Router is D Link DIR 615 and Yes it supported speed on 150 mbps before. So what am I missing ?

P.S: I checked it on other laptop, It's showing 150 MBPS there .. so there's something about my laptop that needs to be tweaked. Please help.

Ok, So I Figured The Problem and Sharing it here.

My Broadcom Drivers were the problem. I uninstalled them and it gave me alot of new options to configure.
I set the 20/40 Mhz Auto.
That Did the trick.
The only way to get 72m is to be running 20mhz channels. I know you set it to 40mhz but it must be negotiating 20mhz anyway.

I doubt this is the direct cause of your issues with your game. Most games need only about 1m/sec of traffic. If you are getting interference it is actually better to run 20mhz because there are only 3 20mhz blocks in the 2.4g band and when if both you and a neighbor try to get 40mhz you get a overlap and interference.

It's creating stutter because of it. Browsing is slow as well.
