Routing my traffic to another PC in another country?

My country went batshit crazy and the morons decided to block youtube along with other vital google services. I have been relying on various VPN's but they are always slow and don't work very well.

I was wondering if there was an easy way for me to route my traffic through a friend in the UK who has a fixed IP 20mbps connection. I can probably persuade him to buy some external hardware if needed but what he wont do is to install linux or make a server.

If someone has any idea about how this can be done then please share.

I have never done this, but I think this is the kind of thing you are trying to achieve, essentially using his computer as a proxy server?

http://www.labnol.org/internet/setup-proxy-server/12890/

P.S. You will need to get your friend to do the above steps then you just enter the Proxy address into your browser configuration!

If you want simple have him buy a VPN router they have come down a lot in price lately. Otherwise he can run something like openvpn on one of his machines.

Openvpn running a dedicated cheap laptop at his house may be your best bet, open vpn support SSL vpn tunnels which are tough to detect and block. VPN routers that can do SSL tend to be more costly.

@lukeconft @kamikazi2142

A proxy server does not work for my needs, the websites I need to work use Java, JS, Flash and youtube embeds (http://www.edx.org http://www.udacity.com)

Have not found a proxy or a VPN so far that can make these 2 website's work and I have been looking for 2 weeks.

I thought I didn't need to mention that when I asked for a method for a consensual MitM attack with Windows because I have already tried everything else.

on a VPN, does it access the internet through the gateway at the target like suggested here?

if your country is filtering the network traffic then you can expect to be filtered even in a VPN or Proxy, if your origination is within the mask then you will be affected, some sites can circumvent this to a limit, but depending on how serious your country is, you may be out of options.

is there no way to move in with your VPN buddy?

Most probably you are right. I was trying free VPN's and proxies without any luck. I bought 1 months subscription to a VPN probably not a lot of people use and it works like a charm.

Been thinking of moving there myself :D
