Hi guys,

I am trying to get VPN to work on my router but it has an error -
"The wireless router currently uses a private WAN IP address (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x). Please configure DDNS service before starting the VPN server."

When i try to configure DDNS it says -
"The wireless router currently uses a private WAN IP address (192.168.x.x, 10,x,x,x, or 172.16.x.x).This router may be in the multiple-NAT environment and DDNS service cannot work in this environment."

I have tried ASUS customer support and they were asking silly question and were no help.

I have a 8mbps static ip connection from my isp. Some Details -

The router is connected through a modem then through gigabit Ethernet cable to my pc. I have also attached images of my modem and router page

Your help is very much appreciated! :)

The problem you have is the device you call a modem is actually a router. Running a router behind a router is going to be a little tricky when you want to use a vpn server.

I normally don't use the factory firmware so I don't know if this is just a warning or it is going to try to force you to use ddns on this router or not. Generally you would set the ddns up on first router if you are going to use it. You would then need to port forward the ports to the asus router.

You may be better off seeing if you can get your "modem" device really to only be a modem and run in bridge mode.

Thanks for your reply!

I thought it was only modem:??: . What ports should only a modem have, this modem+ router had one brodband line port, power and ethernet. I have posted a link, can you tell me is it a modem or a modem+router? http://
