My old Toshiba laptop is always plugged into the AC and been running fine. But the last week it has randomly shut down, with no warning except that the RTC battery is running low and it wants me to change time... I am aware that I should change the battery... However, at the moment I am not in a position to get hold of a new one.
SO, can I bypass the battery and simply let it run on the AC?
If yes, how do I do that?

Solution
Many laptops will not run without a working battery installed. Even when plugged in. It sounds like yours is one of those. Alas, there really is no way to bypass that.
