RTX 2060 compatible with my rig?

I don't know any more on the PSU since I have an HP Omen, therefore, I didn't build it myself. If the 2060 isn't necessarily the right card, then what card would you recommend?

Can you post a picture of the label on the side of the psu. Often these OEM psu's have 12v rails much weaker than there claimed wattage and its the 12v rail that is important. Unfortunately the wattage ratings on psu's don't follow a comparable standard.

What are you aiming for? 1080p, 1440p or other, 60Hz, 100Hz, 144Hz or other?

An i5 7400 and 8gb RAM are minimum entry level for modern AAA games. If aiming for high fps you are needing a much bigger system upgrade which may not be easy with a HP system. If aiming for 60fps at 1440p the 2060 will work well, if 60fps at 1080p the 2060 is over the top, a 1060 or 1070 are excellent at the level and the 1070 has spare performance.

Update since I didn't want to leave you hanging 😉
I talked to my local Staples tech support and they said that my GTX 1050 is powered by port instead of like a 6 pin connector. They explained that a lot of things would have to be upgraded and would total around 900$. So I am just getting a new computer... but thanks for the help!

Yeah that’s one of the reasons I said I wanted to know what psu you have. A decent 500w would have the connector you need but an OEM HP psu it may not have it. This is only one reason why I said upgrading HP system may not be easy, they also may use non standard sockets and motherboard screw layout.

If you want a pc you can upgrade when you feel the need you are best to build it yourself.
