[SOLVED] RTX 2060 vs 1080?

Hi.

I’m upgrading my rig very soon, and I’m deciding between a used 1080 or a brand new 2060. I’ve seen different kinds of RTX 2060 cards.

What would be the best option to go for? I have an i7-7700K. The maximum I’d like to spend is $650.

$650? why not got for 2070S?

as for 1080 vs 2060 it will have it's pro and con. but most likely more pro points for 2060.

Forgot to mention that I’m Australian dollars. An RTX 2060 6GB is $650

personally i would ask this first: did you really need the performance? in general 1080 is slightly faster than RTX2060. but going forward especially in all DX12 and vulkan based games 2060 is faster. sometimes quite significantly thanks to proper async compute implementation in turing based GPU. and we still did not counting future tittles that will use new DX12 ultimate performance enhancing features: VRS, mesh shading and sampler feedback.

U can just go for 1080.
If there is a cheap 2060 SUPER, though, then it will be really better
Conventional 2060 just itself is not too special, most likely more expensive, but u gotta be cautious about used video cards.
