[SOLVED] rtx 2060 vs 1660ti?

which one is better for a 1080p monitor? i curently have the 1050ti , but games like assassin's creed odyssey , shadow of tomb raider run on 40-50 fps , and i want an upgrade.

My current setup :
cpu :i5 8400
GPU : 1050ti 4gb
RAM : 8gb

AC: Odyssey is poorly optimized, while a better GPU will help trying to get a steady 60 FPS takes a bit of graphic setting tweaking. You also may want to get more memory as that should help a little bit.

Either GPU is a good choice, go with the RTX if you want to utilize Ray Tracing or 1660 ti if you don't care for it and want to save some cash (put it towards more memory?).

Personally, I don't care for RT so the 1660 ti would be my choice.

Unless you're trying to get crazy high frame rates, then the 1660Ti is more than sufficient for doing 60fps with max details at 1080p. Am I correct in assuming your monitor's refresh rate maxes out at either 60 or 75Hz?

60hz , nah i just want smooth experience with good graphics , not crazy fps , i can't aford cards like 1070ti or 1080 haha

Then the 1660Ti is more than up to the task. For less money, even the newly released GTX 1660 (non-Ti) is plenty capable for 1920x1080@60Hz. Check out the 1920x1080 results from the GTX 1660 review:

RTX 2060 is about the same performance as GTX 1070 ti.

At 60Hz and paired with a 8400 and 8gb RAM I don’t see the point in getting the 2060.

Even the newly reviewed 1660 is plenty for 1080P currently....

The 2400G, however, is already somewhat core/ thread challenged in the newest games and will become more so as time marches on and newer games are released...(pity there was no 2600G or 2600XG)

It is a bit on the lower end but post overclocking it should hold out until Ryzen 3rd gen.

Both the RTX 2060 and the GTX 1660Ti are overkill for that resolution and refresh rate.

If I were in the market now, I'd likely go with a GTX 1660, which can be had for about $220, but to be honest, there are a lot of great deals on the RX 570 and RX 580, both 4GB and GB variants of each. Far better bang per buck.

Here are their prices, lowest to highest. Pay careful attention, as there's some overlap in pricing from RX570 4GB, RX 570 8GB, RX 580 4GB, and RX580 8GB. Then some overlap from the 580 8GB to the 1660.

Unless you're getting a newer monitor sometime in the near future (then that brings up the question of what resolution, what refresh rate, etc), then I'd stick in the RX580/RX580/GTX1660 categories.

How long do you plan to own this new card for? A 2060 is indeed overkill for 1080P today, not including very high refresh monitors or ray-tracing, ect. It's more suited currently for 1440P in most cases. That said, if you're going to be owning for several years as games get more demanding, the stretch in price to the 2060 could be a better option.
