My GPU burnt out finally. It was a 7970.
I'm shopping for a new card. My budget is $500 with taxes.
Right now I'm contemplating:
RX 2060 for $467 CAD+taxes.
Or
Vega 56 $467 CAD+taxes.
I read numerous comparison reviews as well as benchmarks where the two are toe to toe. RTX usually comes out on average 5% to 7% stronger.
The real question is, since the Vega 56 has :
3584 shaders vs 1920 shaders
10x more buswidth 2048bit vs 192bit
8gb vram vs 6gb vram
12.5mil transistors vs 10.8mil
56 computer units vs 30
64 vs 48 ROPs
224 TMUs vs 120
Etc. Just so much beefier.
So sure the RTX may have better drivers and get slightly better fps by 5% now but hardware wise isn't it safer to get the Vega 56 because it will able to keep up with more for longer in the future ? Just because it's less limited by hardware ?
I'm just trying to pick the one that will be stronger in 2 and 3 yrs from now.
I value everyone's input.
