Hi guys, first post here and hopefully more to come. I have an i5-7400 paired with an RTX 2070 and 16gb RAM on 600w EVGA psu. I've upgraded to the 2070 from a GTX 980 and I'm experiencing less fps now. On BF5 i average around 85 on my 980 at medium/low setting and now 55-70 on the same settings with my 2070. Averaged 300 on csgo all low and now 150 with the 2070 all low as well. In dire need of help/advice. Thanks in advance

Solution
That's a high TEMP value even if the GPU is under slight load. How is the airflow inside your ATX cabinet ? What's the GPU load/usage in IDLE desktop mode, or while surfing the web ? Scan your PC for any kind of malware/virus, just in case.

Use this GPU-Z tool, to check all the parameters. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ Are you using a fresh Windows OS install copy ? Do a clean format. Also do a CLEAN re-install of the GPU drivers. Use the DDU tool, and do it in Safe Mode.

What's the exact Make and Model of your PSU ? Do you have the latest BIOS installed on this system ? What is the GPU and CPU Temp value while gaming ? Also, monitor and check the load/usage.

I presume you...

Quick update, 5 minutes after posting this problem, my 2070 is now running at 72C without any programs open other than chrome and spotify. Really worried there's a potential that this card is bugged and might have to be returned. And i forgot to mention it's an MSI Gaming Z bought at BestBuy less than 12 hours ago. Cheers

I presume you must be having Windows 10 OS ? Some of the latest Windows patches and updates have decreased performance in some systems, but not all.

Airflow is fairly decent. I have the system in a Fractal Design Meshify C Mini with 2 stock intake fans. GPu usage while surfing the web is around 5-14%. I have a background virus scanner and recently hasn't picked up anything. I'm using a Windows 10 64bit Home bought fresh around October 2018 too. I have an EVGA 600w +80Bronze PSU i also got around October 2018. Both drivers for the motherboard and GPU are up-to-date. And, unusually, the gpu load is around 56% while playing BF5 32-player team deathmatch. Hope this helps you help me. Cheers

2-Day Update:

I installed DDU and did a clean restart to wipe off any drivers related to my GPU. Re-downloaded GeForce Experience and installed the newest drivers fresh. Now pushing well over 120+FPS on BF5 Maxed out settings with Future-Frame-Rendering turned on. 130+FPS on Apex Legends Max settings. And 125+FPS on PUBG Maxed out settings as well with every game hitting +85% GPU usage. Glad I didn't have to return and get another gpu!
