RTX 2070 vs GTX 1080 TI specifically for VR

I'm building a system based around VR and can't seem to get much of an opinion on this. If price wasn't an issue between the two, which would one do you think would be better for VR? I know the 1080 TI has higher clock speed but the one thing that caught my attention was the RTX 2070 having a much higher rendering speed which I'd imagine to be incredibly important for VR. Any thoughts?

The 1080ti would be better for normal gaming but the 2070 will be better for VR
